Build it and they will train

Making space for new trainees and new technologies

When the Quick Start Advanced Manufacturing Training Center (QSAMTC) opened in 2018 on a 119-acre site in Pooler, Ga., the 50,000-sq.-ft. facility seemed sufficient for handling the manufacturing activities in the region.

Then the winds shifted, markets rose and fell, and Georgia became a national leader in clean technology. Years of speculation turned into reality. One announcement followed another, and then another, as though each wanted to invest more, hire more, and do it fast.

That’s what Quick Start was made for.

As the Hyundai Motor Group announced it was to build a Metaplant in Bryan County, one supplier after another also put stakes in the ground. And they all need help with company-specific training.

In 2022, Quick Start got the word it was not only tasked to build a training center for the Metaplant and affiliates, but also expanding capacity at the QSAMTC.

Check back during the year and watch the future take shape.

The training center is surrounded by protected wetlands.

The building will accommodate incoming employees of supplier companies supporting Hyundai’s upcoming Metaplant in Ellabell, Georgia.

The expansion consists of a new standalone facility situated adjacent to the existing training center.

The new building will be approximately 20,000 square feet.

Construction crews pour concrete for the new facility.

The building will accommodate similar training functionality as the existing training center: i.e., classrooms, technical labs, high-bay space, administrative and meeting space, and a loading dock.

The original Quick Start Advanced Manufacturing Training Center opened in 2019 on a 119-acre site.

While the original 50,000-square-foot facility once had ample space for the area’s training. needs, significant growth in manufacturing operations in the area is taking space, particularly in the clean energy and EV sector.

In June 2024, Quick Start and McKnight Construction held a Topping Off ceremony, making the placement of the last steel beam for the expansion.

the new building is slated for a March 2025 completion.
