Quick Start strengthens partnership with expanding auto supplier

Quick Start is continuing its longtime partnership with HYUNDAI TRANSYS, this time in a new location.

HYUNDAI TRANSYS, which makes seating systems and powertrains, is a major supplier of Kia Motors in West Point, Ga. It will also be a core affiliate of Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America near Savannah, Ga.

The Metaplant is slated to start production by early 2025, and Quick Start has already begun providing TRANSYS with company-specific training so companies will be ready when work begins on-site. Topics include seat assembly process on various Hyundai EV models, electrical motor controls, and a manufacturing process overview.

TRANSYS trainees are also provided with safety and organizational development courses, such as Lean, 5S and workplace ethics.

To provide the training, Quick Start is using its main Advanced Manufacturing Training Center in Pooler, Georgia, and two interim facilities while the new Hyundai Mobility Training Center of Georgia is under construction adjacent to the Metaplant.

“Quick Start provides the core understanding, so when we take the trainees to the production line, they are better prepared. It would be much longer if we did it ourselves.”

— Eddie Mabe, Senior Manager of Human Resources and Administration, HYUNDAI TRANSYS, West Point, Georgia

Trainees at Quick Start’s interim facility are tested on their ability to assemble Hyundai seating systems.

The seats trainees are learning to assemble are for several different Hyundai EV models.

In addition to being able to assemble the seats accurately, trainees are tested on their ability to assemble the seats quickly.

Assembling car seats involves a series of intricate steps including cutting, sewing, padding and fitting various parts together.

HYUNDAI TRANSYS is among HMGMA’s suppliers that will be located on-site at the Metaplant. Currently, training for TRANSYS is being provided at the Quick Start Advanced Manufacturing Training Center in Pooler, as well as two interim facilities, including one at Port City Logistics (pictured).
