Industry leader looks to Quick Start for specialized training

When Fox Factory moved from California to Gainesville, Ga., in 2018 to open a new $50 million facility, Quick Start was ready to crank up a customized training program to prepare its team with both theoretical knowledge and operational skills to keep the company a front-runner in its industry.

The company, which manufactures high-performance shock absorbers and racing suspension products, needed to expand its talent space and physical footprint to continue on its growth trajectory.

Joe Cobain, general manager at the Gainesville plant, said Fox looked at numerous other states before choosing Georgia. And during the site selection process, Cobain said, “I don’t remember seeing anything like [Quick Start].”

High-quality technical training is critical for Fox due to the precision required to manufacture its products. Quick Start enhanced its existing CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Machining program to include a high-level math course that included geometry and trigonometry.

“It was an advantage to have a program like Quick Start to support us in getting our feet wet in Georgia,” Cobain said. “We started with Quick Start early. Visiting some of the [Quick Start] training centers put our mind at ease with the program.”

High quality technical training is critical for Fox due to the precision required to manufacture its products.

Quick Start training means Fox’s trainees are now introduced to a wider range of precision gauges, tighter tolerancing and a deeper understanding of the entire machining process.

Fox Factor’s $50 million facility in Gainesville manufactures high-shock absorbers and racing suspension products.

One of the main components of Quick Start training for Fox is CNC (computer numerical control) for machine operators, including a high-level math course and client specific technical drawing and precision measurement courses.

Fox products are in such high demand that the company moved from California to Gainesville, Ga., in 2018.

The company produces parts for bicycles, on-road and off-road vehicles, snowmobiles, trucks and UTVs, side-by-side vehicles, all-terrain vehicles and specialty vehicles.
