A behind-the-scenes look at essential training for HMGMA Meta Pros

Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) is mere months away from producing its first electric vehicles, and construction crews are putting the finishing touches on a two-kilometer long mass production plant in Ellabell, Ga. Its Meta Pros will be ready to hit the shop floor on day one, in part thanks to training provided by Georgia Quick Start.

An essential part of the training Quick Start is providing to HMGMA is a general assembly overview. Trainees learn shop floor roles, safety requirements and policies and the sequential process of car assembly.

“General assembly” takes place after the stamping, welding and paint departments have completed their work on an automobile.

The department installs many parts of the car, ranging from safety features such as air bags and seat belts to final touches such as sun visors and weather stripping. Final automation of the battery, center console and seats, as well as connection of the hoses and cables — an especially critical step in the EV manufacturing process.

Automated door install is among the last steps before the car is checked for quality and sent out for distribution.

Quick Start’s training for HMGMA general assembly is currently taking place at an interim facility in Port Wentworth while the Hyundai Mobility Training Center of Georgia is being constructed next to the Metaplant.
