Can you make it?

RETROSPECTIVE:

Rigorous assessment process key to a winning team

The Kia project opened the new millennium for Georgia. State-of-the-art technology allowed innovations in the production processes, which in turn increased quality and efficiency. The challenge was preparing the team members to enter a brand new world.

The first step was a customized assessment process to identify aptitudes and skills that would help each team member succeed at their highest potential. The marketing campaign — “Can You Make It?” — had issued a challenge to anyone who wanted to take the next big step in their lives. After opening the application for 30 days, 43,013 applications had been submitted.

To help Kia find the skilled and motivated team members they would need to be successful, Quick Start designed, tested, and validated customized assessment stations. Each station was designed to address processes or tasks that would be essential for operating in the manufacturing environment.

The first shift was hired, and in no time, the all-new Kia Sorento began to roll.
